Friday's Workout

Hey Everyone!

After I took the dog for a walk, I went to the gym to get my workout done early on in the day.  I love working out in the morning because I don't have time to think about it and to talk myself out of going.  And I also don't like having a commitment at the end of the day (I tend to get kind of zoned-out and tired).  So morning workouts are definitely key for me.  I find that the hardest part of it is just GETTING THERE.  Once I'm there, I can't help but workout.  I'm really lucky because there is a fitness center in my apartment complex, so I walk to it, but if you have to drive to the gym in the morning, that can be a hurdle.  In picking a gym to become a member of, I would personally make vicinity to home a high priority.  Another thing that I do that is helping me get to the gym more is leaving my sneakers there.  I'm not entirely sure why this works for me...I don't want to admit this, but it might be because I need to check on them to make sure no one has stolen them.  I'm from New York.  No one can be trusted.  People do not usually share my caution here in Maine.

So anyway, today I did a HIIT workout.  If you don't know, HIIT stands for high intensity interval training.  What I love about these workouts is how short and intense they are.  I have a hard time staying on a treadmill for 45 minutes, or doing a long weight workout with tons of sets.  These workouts get me sweating and target most areas of the body.  The one I did today was Day 3 of the "Catching Fire Challenge" which you can find here.  This is the breakdown:

1. :10 Plank -> :50 Elbow Ups
2. :10 Plank -> :50 Double High Knees
3. :10 Plank -> :50 Burpee + 2 Push-ups + 2 knee lifts
4. :10 Plank -> :50 Double High Knees
5. :10 Plank -> :50 Superman Swings
6. :10 Plank -> :50 Double High Knees

x 2 Rounds

Check out the video on the link above to learn how to do the exercises.  I don't have a dip station, so instead of 2 knee lifts, I did 2 'opposite elbow to knee's (standing). I'm really liking this "Catching Fire Challenge".  I did Day 1 and 2 as well, and they're both great.

Remember, the hardest part is GETTING THERE.  Just GO.  :)

Well that's all I have to say for now, so, I guess I'll go shower.  If I have to.
