This post will be catching you up to speed on some of mine and Mike's wedding plans! I will be doing a wedding planning post every Monday, so stay tuned! We are getting married on August 23, 2014 at Cliffside Lodge in Poland, Maine.
Cliffside Lodge |
Cliffside Lodge is on the property of Camp North Star, a summer camp for kids and adolescents age 7-16. The camp is on a wooded property with a lake and cabins for the campers. The lodge is used as a place for counselors to live, and for various other activities throughout the summer. In camp off-season, the lodge is rented out for weddings and parties. The weekend of our wedding, We have full access to the lodge from Friday at noon until Sunday at noon. This is going to be awesome for the rehearsal dinner, and for decorating and setting everything up. There are a few bedrooms upstairs that the bridal party will be staying the nights in. Mike and I love the setting and feel of the lodge, and we knew as soon as we saw it that it was perfect for us. We're quite 'outdoorsy', so somewhere with a lot of nature around was ideal when choosing a venue.
The Ceremony location - This is how another couple did it. |
A little about our ceremony...
Our ceremony is going to take place right behind the lodge. The area is kind of awkward with the placement of the aisle and the way that we and the bridal party will be standing, so I think that we are going to change that around. My aunt is my Godmother, and she will be marrying us. She is an author and a teacher who is great with words, and someone very special to us. The bridesmaids and the most adorable ring bearer there ever was will be entering the ceremony to "A Thousand Years" by Christina Perri, and my dad will walk me down the aisle to "Thunder Road" by Bruce Springsteen. We are throwing around the idea of a ring warming ceremony, but we don't really know if that's plausible or not with our guest count and the length of the ceremony. (What happens if you're ready for the rings, but not everyone has 'warmed' them yet?) We have a great photographer who will shoot from the time we're getting ready to the end of the reception. If we get extremely unlucky, the ceremony will be inside the lodge where our reception will be. Photos of that will be up in my next wedding planning post.
We've got a pretty good foundation for our planning, but new developments are happening all the time. We are almost 5 months away! Mike and I have been engaged for 2 years now, so it seems like so long to wait. We wanted to get married last summer, but with my injuries and the length of my recovery (which is still going on), we decided to wait til this summer.
Next Monday I'll be filling you in on all the details of our reception.
Thanks for reading =)
Later!
