Favorite Products of April!

Hey there!

As April has come to a close and May begins, I decided to look through my makeup bag and bathroom to see if I had some really great stand-out products that were worth sharing for an April Favorites. I really do have some great stuff that I have been using constantly and really loving.  I attached my YouTube video on my faves of April to the bottom of this post, so check that out too!  And without further ado, here they are!

1. It's a 10 Miracle Leave-In Plus Keratin   This Leave-In spray from It's a 10 has changed my hair care routine for the better.  I wash my hair every other day, and on the days that I don't wash it, I spray this in my hair when I get out of the shower.  It makes it SO easy to get a brush through when my hair is wet, because among other things, it's a detangler.  Once my hair is dry, I notice that it feels so soft and smooth, even if I just let it air dry.  It's also a heat protectant, which you should always use if you're going to heat style your hair.  I have the big bottle (10 fl oz), but it also comes in a small travel size of 4 fl oz.

2. Renewal Oil-Free Makeup Remover   Renewal is the generic Rite Aid brand, but this product compares to the Neutrogena Makeup Remover.  It has the same ingredients, so I go for the cheaper product...I'm a real girl with a real budget!  I like this type of remover for my eye makeup 10 times better than makeup wipes or pads.  I feel like those always leave a smudge of mascara underneath your eyes, but this stuff really takes it all off.  If something really doesn't want to come off, I stick a Q-tip into the bottle and then get in there and rub it off.  If you haven't tried this version of makeup remover, I highly suggest it!

3. Clean & Clear Continuous Control Acne Cleanser   This cleanser actually clears up my skin!  Most acne cleaners (at the drug store at least) contain salicylic acid as their active ingredient.  When my monthly visitor came last month, my skin revolted in a rage of acne, so I needed something to go to work on it.  Salicylic acid cleansers just didn't do much of anything for my blemishes, so I decided to try something else, and discovered the magical powers of benzoyl peroxide.  This Clean & Clear cleanser was one of the only ones I could find with this ingredient for a reasonable price ($8 I think).  What I do with it is take my time and massage it into the skin on my face and my chest (where I also break out) for a solid minute.  I like to have it on there for that long so it can really sink in and do it's thing.  The bottle says to do it for 20-30 seconds, but I found that it didn't irritate my skin, so I went for longer.  This product tingles on your skin, so if you don't like that, I'd try something else.  To be honest, if I had the money, I would spend more on my skin care, but for now this is making a big difference in my skin and I like it!

4. Clinique All About Shadow Quad   I used these shadows for the green/hazel eye makeup tutorial in my last post, so go check that out!  I got this as a free gift when I bought something else from Clinique.  The shadows are SO nice and blendable that it makes it so easy to create whatever kind of look you are going for.  The cream shade is a great pigmented highlight color and the golden brown is unlike any color I have.  I was surprised to find that the two green shades are actually wearable, and they really do bring out my eye color.  This isn't the type of palette that's great for every day, but it creates such a nice, unique look!

5. Urban Decay Lipstick in Rush   I don't think that Urban Decay stocks this lipstick anymore, so I included another product from NYX that is amazingly close in color.  This shade lipstick is such a beautiful darker nude, and I really like how it looks on my lips.  It's hard to even describe the kind of 'your lips but better' color that it creates.  I've just been loving it this month to accompany a natural makeup look, but I think it would look great with just about anything on your face!

6. NYX Lipstick in Thalia   This is a great dupe for Rush.  The only thing that I like better about the Urban Decay lipstick is the consistency and staying power.  Thalia is a really thin, moist texture that rubs off pretty easily.  The upside to the consistency is that it applies very easily even without a mirror.  And the color...I'm in love.

7. Benefit Eye Bright   This is a pink-toned brightening pencil that works amazingly in my inner corners and as a brow bone highlight.  As you can see, I've had mine for a good while and have loved the heck out of it!  It blends out very easily and applies smoothly.  This month I've been using it for my lower water line, and it makes my eyes look bigger and wider.  I've also been loving the look of this on the bottom lash line with a winged liner on the top (see next product).

8. NYC Liquid Eyeliner in Pearlized Black   I SUCK at my winged eye liner.  I can do it on anyone else, no problem, but I have so much trouble on my own eyes!  Is it the shape?  The size?  My shaky hands?  I do not know.  I had always used felt-tipped liquid liners because everyone says that they're easier to use, but on myself nothing has worked better than this NYC liquid liner.  The brush is the perfect size for my abilities, and I just push it onto the base of my upper lashes and glide it on over.

9. Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush in Exposed    This is a matte, nude blush that looks so natural on my cheeks.  What I like most about it besides the color is the fact that it blends in with my bronzer so easily and seamlessly.  I apply my bronzer first, in the hollows of my cheeks and then apply Exposed to the apples of my cheeks.  No matter which bronzer I use, I always find this blush to work perfectly, and  I think the lack of shimmer helps a lot as well.

So there are all of the products that I have been loving in April.  Thanks so much for reading, check out my YouTube video below that corresponds with this post and follow me on Twitter and Instagram for more stuff I do/say/like!

 Later =)
